How to Care for Your Fresh Flower Gajra

Because a gajra is made from fresh flowers, a little care goes a long way toward keeping it fragrant and full for the length of your event.

Before you wear it

Keep your gajra refrigerated (not frozen) in a sealed bag or damp cloth until an hour or two before you need it. Fresh flowers hold up best in cool, humid conditions and wilt faster in heat or dry air.

While you’re wearing it

Mist lightly with water every few hours if your event runs long, and avoid direct sun or heat sources where possible. Securing it well with bobby pins at both ends helps it hold its shape through dancing and movement.

After the event

Fresh gajras are designed to be worn once, but if you’d like to keep the flowers a little longer, store the strand in the refrigerator wrapped in a damp paper towel. Most will stay fresh for another day or so.

A quick checklist

Refrigerate until you need it, mist during long wear, pin securely at both ends, and avoid direct heat. That’s really all it takes to get the most out of your strand.
